Can a person with a B1/B2 or J2 visa enroll in ELI courses?

J2 visa holders are able to enroll full time or part time in ELI courses. B1/B2 visas are allowed to take up to 4 courses or they are in violation of the terms of the visa.

Can my wife or child be included on the I-20?

Dependents can be included on the I-20 by notifying ELI in advance by including your dependent information on the ELI application, especailly a copy of his/her passport.

How do I arrange transportation from the airport?

To arrange transportation from the airport, you can visit the Transportation section of this Web site or use the information listed on the Housing, Transportation and Hotels information sheet included in the new student package.

How do I find housing in Bryan/College Station? Do you assist in finding home stay families?

Visit our Housing section to find information about housing in the Bryan/College Station area. Ultimately, it is the student's responsibility to find housing. However, the ELI office can help arrange housing for new students.

How long does it take to get my I-20?

Once your file is accepted and the tuition and fees are received, an I-20 can be issued within 2 days. Mailing time may be around 1 week depending on the destination.

How many semesters does it usually take to complete the program?

Depending on the student's level, ELI can take from 1 to 3 semesters to achieve the goal of English Mastery.

I intend on enrolling at Texas A&M University when I complete my studies at ELI. How do I apply to Texas A&M University?

To apply to Texas A&M, you must submit an application directly to the admissions office. You can contact admissions by phone at 1-979-845-1071 or access the Texas A&M University Web site.

What does the tuition fee cover? What other costs may I encounter?

The tuition fee for the semester covers your tuition and program fees only. It does not cover such costs as books, or living expenses.

What happens if I arrive after the semester has begun?

Students are expected to attend classes on schedule. However, if you are going to be late due to unavoidable circumstances, please contact ELI to find out what can be done.

What important documents should I bring to the United States?

Proof of health insurance (if applicable), proof of past rental/buying history (housing), ample funds to cover expenses you may incur, bank statement or proof of ample funds, I-20, passport, and visa.

What materials are required for admission to ELI?

Application form, official bank statement in US Dollars, TOEFL or essay, 2 passport photos, $50 application fee, and transcripts in English.
